Statement by Mourne TUV Councillor Henry Reilly:
“Today’s figures for the Office of National Statistics have proved the Remoaners wrong once again.
“Far from contracting the UK economy has expanded by 0.5% in the July to September period.
“Growth has been unaffected by the EU referendum. In fact, it was stronger that the estimated 0.3%. Some parts of the economy have been boosted by as much as 0.8%.
“Although the pound has fallen this has actually helped exports. Additionally, in Northern Ireland business near the border have seen a boom in shoppers with some reporting an increase of shoppers of over 60%.
“The fall in the pound has also resulted in an increase in tourism. These figures are another nail in the coffin of Project Fear. The scaremongering of the establishment is being exposed as empty as we move towards taking our place as a free and independent nation once again.”
