Disgusting sectarian abuse of Rangers fans at Dublin Airport

Statement by TUV North Belfast representative Ron McDowell:

“Earlier this week a number of Rangers fans were travelling from Dublin airport to Frankfurt to watch the Rangers match the following evening. The fan was travelling with his elderly father and wearing clothing which displayed the Rangers logo.

“A number of jokes with a jag were made by the driver transporting in the hotel bus to the terminal. This was taken on the chin but it has since emerged that there is a video of the driver on Tick Tok in which he uses foul language directed at the two fans as they walk away from the bus. To have been subjected to such abuse was bad enough. To have been filmed and posted on social media without their consent adds to the outrageous nature of the whole incident.

“An official complaint has been lodged with Dublin Airport about the sectarian and xenophobic comments but to date no response has been received.

“Such behaviour is totally unacceptable and a telling insight into the sort of Ireland which lurks behind all the platitudes which are so often blithely uttered by Republicans and their fellow travellers who try to tell us we have nothing to worry about when it comes to campaigns to force Northern Ireland out of the United Kingdom.

“An official complaint has been lodged and while there has been an assurance that the matter is being dealt with to date there has been no confirmation of any disciplinary action against the offending party.”
