TUV has warned unionists in the talks that failure to secure change in the current definition of a “victim” will render any deal on “the past” unacceptable.
Commenting Jim Allister said:-
“The present obscene definition of “victim”, which equates the victim with the victim-maker, must go if justice is ever to be attained for innocent victims. This will be the first litmus test applied by TUV and innocent victims to any proclaimed deal on the past. Such essential change should be made a prerequisite requirement by every unionist and victim-supportive participant.
“There will be much besides by which to test any deal on the past, but without righting the wrong of the great injustice of the 2006 definition there can be no progress.”
