Statement by TUV leader Jim Allister:-
“Having consciously stoked the anger which has tragically spilled onto our streets, through pushing and securing a hard Protocol agenda, Simon Coveney is the last man any unionist needs to hear from at present.
“The best contribution Coveney the interloper could make is to keep quiet. Hasn’t he done enough already? Further meddling from that quarter is only likely to fan the flames even further.
“Coveney is rightly seen as the author of much of the Protocol disaster. Having so crafted the partitioning of the United Kingdom down the Irish Sea and the annexation of Northern Ireland into the EU, pretence now of concern for Northern Ireland will not wash. If Coveney cared anything for the people of Northern Ireland he would not have masterminded the undemocratic transfer of law-making powers for this part of the U.K. to the foreign jurisdiction of the EU and all that without a shred of ‘consent’, which is a euphemism he embraces when it suits.”
