Commenting on the appointment of new members to the Parades Commission TUV leader Jim Allister said:
“The appointment of new members to the Parades Commission will be met with scepticism by the Loyal Orders and rightly so.
“The primary issue isn’t the membership of the Commission but its existence.
“However, Unionists need to be cautious of those who claim to want an end to the Parades Commission without spelling out what they will replace it with. It is imperative that we develop a system in which there is a presumption in favour of traditional routes and parades on main arterial routes as they are a shared space.
“Any replacement to the Parades Commission must also be free of political interference and not, like the 2010 proposals, place men appointed by McGuinness.”
