Statement by TUV North Belfast Westminster candidate David Clarke:
“The TUV has no hesitation about supporting a return parade for the Ligoniel lodges following the Twelfth celebrations.
“At a time when Irish is being imposed across Belfast by way of a unbalanced council policy on street signs, it isn’t much to ask for ten minutes of tolerance for Unionist cultural expression once a year. Those who preach about equality and shared space should recognise this.
“Importantly, there has been no meaningful engagement from Cara who obviously believe they don’t need to because the Parades Commission, in spite of its supposed role to facilitate local agreement, will always side with those seeking to suppress the right to parade.
“We cannot have shared space when there is no space for Protestant cultural expression.”
