Statement by TUV deputy leader Ron McDowell:
“The desperate calls of the political establishment, the media and now the Prime Minister for the Executive to continue as normal on the basis of the the tainted Donaldson deal is not because of concern for Northern Ireland.
“The reality is that the deal sold by Sir Jeffery to the Unionist people was supposed to have abolished the Sea Border and although the current interim leader of the DUP, Gavin Robinson, was somewhat more careful in the claims he made, he too claimed that the Green Lane was no more.
“An Executive which was established on false premises after a deal agreed with a leader who was forced to resign just weeks later is not what is in the interests of the Union.
“Until the division of the United Kingdom caused by the Sea Border is addressed and our position as equal citizens restored stability is positively a bad thing. Unionists have no interest in a process which sees us on a one way street to Irish unification thanks to an all Ireland economy being built by a pernicious Protocol.”
