Statement by TUV Court Councillor Jolene Bunting:
“Hundreds of people have been left with no energy supply after an attack on the substation close to homes in the Lyndhurst area in Belfast.
“Residents could see the fire from their homes after their electric was cut late on Thursday evening.
“I have been in contact with NI Electricity to ensure the power was restored at their earliest convenience. Most electricity was restored around 8am. However the power is coming from a generator which may cause some issues.
“I would ask people to bear with NIE until full supply is restored.
“I will be speaking to the PSNI to try to prevent a repeat of this and bring those responsible for this vandalism to justice.
“I would appeal for anyone with information to bring it to the police.”
