Statement by TUV leader Jim Allister:
“Jude Collins has a long history of crass and insensitive comments which would have already rendered him persona non grata as far as his commentating career on the BBC is concerned with his remarks some years ago about the domestic abuse suffered by Nigella Lawson are a particularly memorable example.
“But Collins’s attempt to link the Boys Brigade to dissident Republicans was, even by his standards, in particularly bad taste.
“As Collins demonstrated on Talkback today that he is incapable of apologising even when he gets something so glaringly wrong it is incumbent upon the BBC to stop providing him with a platform.
“He has nothing constructive to offer debate in Northern Ireland.”
