Statement by Cllr Timothy Gaston, TUV Bannside:
“I welcome the £10m investment in improving rural roads, it is much needed but will only go a little way to improve the roads after many years of under investment in basic maintenance.
“Rural Bannside has been neglected, and it is only right that it gets its fair share of investment to improve the roads. In particular Glarryford and Cullybackey areas are particularly bad due to the extra pressure that has resulted from the A26 dualling and Woodtown Cross improvements which has diverted huge traffic volumes onto these rural roads.
“It is a step in the right direction, but sustained investment in maintenance is required long-term.”
