Attack on Twaddell Camp and Republican Vandalism

Statement by TUV Court Councillor Jolene Bunting:

“On Saturday night Twaddell human rights camp was attacked once again. These attacks have become more frequent.

“In recent weeks brick fireworks and paint bombs have been thrown at peaceful protester in the camp. The PSNI clam to spend £25000 a day on policing Twaddell. If this is the case how are nationalist youths able to throw items without any repercussions?

“It is only a matter of time before someone is hurt by these thugs intent on causing as much damage as possible.

“On the same night writing appeared on a wall in lower Shankill. This writing has caused damage to the apartments which are occupied by a mixed community and also caused distress to the residents of Brown Square.

“The Republican graffiti has angered residents and shows that there are people determined to cause trouble.

“In relation to both incidents it is incumbent upon the PSNI to make every effort to bring those responsible to justice and I will be pressing them on this when I meet the PSNI later today.”
