Statement by TUV Ballyclare councillor David Arthurs:
“Recently I took part in the Alzheimer’s Society Memory Walk at Stormont for my father who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in May.
“The walk helped to raise money for a cause close to my heart. There is hardly a family in the Province which will not have personal experience of the impact this dreadful disease can have upon loved ones.
“Over time, an alert member of the family can be robbed of their personality and even their nearest and dearest can become strangers. It can be a heart-breaking situation.
“While medical progress has been made in relation to many life changing diseases much work remains to be done with regards to Alzheimer’s and I was delighted to be able to take part in this fundraising event for a worthy case.
“While the event is now past you can still donate to my event if you see me about or via the internet here.”
