Statement by TUV leader Jim Allister:
“Martina Anderson’s comments in the European Parliament that if the Withdrawal Agreement is changed to provide for a Unionist veto then there won’t be a Stormont again starkly illustrate how pointless Stormont is so long as Sinn Fein can hold it to ransom.
“If cross community consent is only required for matters about which Nationalists are concerned where is the protection for Unionists?
“One can only reasonably conclude that as far as Sinn Fein are concerned the Belfast Agreement isn’t designed to protect the interests of Unionists at all. Having served its propose it can now be dispensed with as they move on to the next phase of the “struggle””.
