Statement by TUV leader Jim Allister:
“I am pleased that the Finance Committee today approved my proposal to write to the Quinn family offering our sympathy and commending their courage and tenacity. We have also as a committee expressed our dismay and condemnation at the Minister’s behaviour. Tellingly the proposal was opposed by the Sinn Fein members of the Committee.
“The Committee has also written to the Minister asking for an explanation of his conduct as to why he denied making comments about Paul Quinn, saying this calls his fitness for office in question and asking him to come forward to the police about what he knows about the crime and the meetings he has had about the crime.
“This is a situation which wouldn’t be paralleled anywhere else. The Finance Minister is clearly unfit for office. He should go and go now.”
