Statement by TUV leader Jim Allister:
“A tweet by Alliance Chair and former election candidate Duncan Morrow calling for “decent Unionists” to back John Major, Anna Soubry and Dominic Grieve underscores not just the sanctimonious nature of his party but their condescending arrogance.
“Just what qualifies one as “decent” in the eyes of Mr Morrow? It would seem that to take a pro-Brexit position automatically makes one ‘indecent’.
“Alliance are the party that assumes superiority and its Chair’s tweet underscores that patronising attitude.
“They lecture people on the need for respect but clearly show no respect for people who disagree with them. Once more ‘liberals’ demonstrate that they are the most illiberal when it comes to anyone daring to disagree with them.”
