Statement by TUV leader Jim Allister:
“I was delighted to welcome Yvrose Telfort Ismael to Stormont today.
“She and her husband worked to reunite children with their parents after the devastation wrought by the Haiti earthquake in 2010 which is estimated to have killed well over 100,000 people.
“When all avenues were exhausted they stated an orphanage to look after the children themselves and currently care for 31.
“A school has also been established which not only provides education to local children but a much needed meal every day.
“In recent days there has been support for the orphanage from Northern Ireland contributors, particularly from Co Fermanagh, some of whom recently visited Haiti to help and who are hosting the visit to Northern Ireland.
“Yvrose was presented with the William Jefferson Clinton Award for her humanitarian work during a recent trip to Dublin.”
