Statement by TUV Carrick Councillor David Clarke:
“The report published by the Audit Office today highlights to continuation of the division of the United Kingdom by the border in the Irish Sea.
“While the current DUP leader Gavin Robinson has claimed that in the Autumn we will see “all checks removed”, today’s report makes clear that there will be permanent border inspection posts by 2025.
“While there is determined attempt both by Stormont and Westminster to obscure the reality of what is taking place, reports such as that published today and recent rulings by our High Court making it clear that Acts of the sovereign Parliament for the UK simply do not apply in Northern Ireland if they conflict with EU law, the truth will out regardless.”
