Statement by TUV Mid Ulster chairman Glenn Moore:
“Over the weekend we learned the identity of the NIE employee who appears in a video in close proximity to a Unionist bonfire site using the phrase “Up the Ra.”
“The use of this phrase is highly offensive to all right-thinking people in Northern Ireland given the suffering which the IRA inflicted upon society with their indiscriminate terrorism. However, in this occasion the offence is aggravated by the fact that the individual wearing NIE clothing used the phrase while standing close to an Eleventh Night bonfire given that the brunt of the IRA terror campaign was directed against members of the Unionist community.
“I have written to the PSNI about the matter as well as NIE. I have also brought the issue to the attention of Cookstown Boxing Club where the individual is a coach and will watch with interest to see what the response of all three organisations is.”
