The TUV has announced that Harold McKee has been endorsed by the party to defend his Mourne council seat.
Harold is married with three children and five grandchildren and is a Mourne man “born and bred” living in Kilkeel. A member of Mourne Presbyterian Church, he holds deep Christian convictions.
Harold is a member of Kilkeel True Blues LOL 1034 and RBP 208.
A former secretary of the Northern Ireland Blue Cattle Club and a previous representative of the British Blue Cattle Society U.K., he has extensive knowledge of the farming community and its needs.
As a serving councillor and former MLA, Harold has wide experience in providing quality representation in public office.
Councillor McKee said:
“I am delighted to be selected to be the TUV candidate for Mourne. This is an area I know and love and am proud to represent. I pledge that if returned to serve another term I will give of my all for the people of Mourne.
“Last year TUV secured 66,000 votes and the shockwaves of that result are still reverberating today. No one is in any doubt that Unionist resolve, particularly on the key issue of the Protocol which continues to divide our nation, has been stiffened because of the large vote secured by TUV. The council elections present Unionists with another opportunity to administer another dose of resolve to politicians by voting TUV 1.
“TUV believes it is intolerable that, though disguised by the grace periods, the Kilkeel fleet, under the Protocol, should not be allowed to land their catches in their own port without being treated as foreign vessels and having to complete paperwork and submit veterinary certificates. The Windsor Framework does not address this.
“No one is wondering where TUV will stand on the key issues the day after the election. That is, sadly, not the case with others. So I would encourage people to vote for strength, not weakness, and make it TUV 1 on polling day before going on to transfer to other pro-Union candidates.”
TUV leader Jim Allister added:
“I am delighted that Harold has decided to defend his council seat. He is a man of deep convictions who I have no doubt will continue his record of first class service if returned for another term. I heartily recommend him to the people of Mourne”.
