Statement by North Belfast TUV Assembly candidate Ron McDowell:
“The Loyalist Engagement Survey published today is an interesting insight into the views of loyalism at this time. It will come as no surprise to anyone who has listened to the views of the grassroots that in spite of the attempts of some to move the narrative on and present the Protocol as a fait accompli Loyalist opposition is not waning.
“In truth, loyalism is ahead of their political representatives and recognise the grave constitutional danger of the Protocol.
“The pitiful response of those who have been entrusted with the leadership of Unionism at the moment is also recognised by loyalists which is why the TUV is cutting through and experiencing a massive upsurge in support.
“The DUP’s continuing implementation of the protocol through the Department of Agriculture is understandably causing them to lose support.
“Interestingly a massive 80% of those polled believe Unionism should pull out of the North/South Ministerial Council – exactly what TUV have been calling for months. TUV is clearly in tune with the feelings of loyalist people.
“It is also note worthy that the poll rating for the PSNI are through the floor with almost 95% of loyalists believe it that Republicans get preferential treatment from the police.
“Those who worked on this report are to be commended for their hard work.”
