Statement by TUV leader Jim Allister:
“This morning I attended the Delra7 HEMS event at the Radar complex.
“I have been involved in the campaign for an air ambulance for Northern Ireland for a considerable period of time. This morning’s event highlighted the great advantages which such a service would provide were we to get one in our Province.
“It is essential that we have the proper staffing model. It must be doctor, not paramedic led. The recent letter from a large number of world experts in the field drove this point home.
“Northern Ireland should not be uniquely short changed in a UK context. Like the rest of the nation our air ambulance must be physician-staffed.”
