Statement by TUV MLA Jim Allister:
“I am deeply concerned that an administrator has been appointed for three care homes in Northern Ireland including Slemish in Ballymena and Braefield in Connor. I very much hope that a buyer can be found and that both the residents and staff will have certainty about their future.
“This development underscores the folly of running down Pinewood statutory home on the assumption that the private sector can pick up the slack.
“It also adds urgency to calls to reverse the policy of the Department of Health and Trusts banning new admissions to care homes.”
