Today, Richard Cairns has submitted his nomination papers to contest the Assembly Election for South Antrim on behalf of TUV. Commenting, Richard said:

“The election campaign is underway, and on 5th May the voters of South Antrim go to the polls to elect who represents them for the next five years.

“You will hear many promises and assurances during the campaign – what I ask people to do is look at the record of TUV in the Assembly. It is one of stopping squander and waste, of campaigning for better and new services such as the Air Ambulance for Northern Ireland, and standing up to Sinn Fein as we have no vested interest in keeping them at the heart of government.

“I share a vision with TUV, one of making Stormont work, but not by continuing to do the same old thing and expecting different results. Stormont has failed because of how it is set up. We need more democracy, not less. We need an opposition, not all party governance. We need straight talking principled politicians, not those who go with the wind.

“People recognise that Stormont isn’t working. However, if you go out and vote for the parties which are prepared to operate the same old system of forced coalition then nothing will change. TUV, and TUV alone, have shown that they are serious about the radical change Stormont needs.

“A vote for TUV also sends a clear message on the EU. Unlike others we have not had to have a big debate about the EU referendum. TUV has always been clear that the UK should control its own money, make its own laws and most importantly control its own borders. Therefore we have always believed that we would be better off out.

“During this campaign I am asking the people of South Antrim to put their faith in me, and together we can make the change that is needed.”
