Statement by Alderman Stewart McDonald, TUV Mid and East Antrim:
“Today I was joined by TUV Vice Chairman Richard Cairns to work alongside political and community representatives in Harryville to address the problem of anti-social behaviour.
“I have been contacted by numerous residents who have told me about a growing trend of anti-social behaviour in the Harryville area. This type of behaviour is unacceptable and it appears to be coming from young teenagers of school age. I am encouraged by the willingness of local community activists to put their heads together in an attempt to find a way forward.
“Everyone must work together to fix this problem, and it is crucial that parents know where there children are in the evenings and at the weekend. No one wants a young person to enter adult life with a criminal conviction, therefore it is important to address it early. That is what we will all be working towards.
“I would like to thank Harryville Partnership for facilitating this meeting, and for all those who attended for their input. It is time to get working hard on the ground to tackle this scourge.”
