Statement by Cllr Timothy Gaston, TUV Deputy Mayor of Mid and East Antrim Borough Council:
“Back in August the Housing Executive made a presentation to Council in which they outlined the Housing Investment Plan for the area.
“The one thing I hear my constituents from rural areas say to me consistently is that they feel they are less of a priority compared to urban areas. I took the opportunity to press the Housing Executive in the meeting to address this issue and today I received confirmation that Clough and Craigywarren are to be included in the Ballymena North and Rurals External Cyclical Maintenance Scheme which is now to commence in March 2016.
“This is a positive development, but there is still much work to be done and I will continue to press for other rural residential areas to get the same level of service I expect from the Housing Executive.”
Cllr Brian Collins, Braid TUV continued:
“Rural Residents deserve the same level of service as urban residents. No more. No less. I expect the Housing Executive to be fully committed to ensuring this happens and along with my TUV colleagues we will all ensure that it is the case.”
