Statement by TUV North Antrim candidate Timothy Gaston:
“As we enter the last few days of the campaign it is clear that many within the Unionist community feel fed up and frustrated with local politics.
“In the last few months we have heard much tough talk on On The Runs but no action.
“DUP MLAs have trooped through the lobbies at Stormont to election a Sinn Fein Speaker.
“People were promised a “gradated response” to the outrageous behaviour of the Parades Commission. Instead they got a graduated retreat with parties going back on their pledge to negotiate on parading.
“People have seen cutbacks to essential services, particularly when it comes to health, yet there is plenty of money for the OFMdFM-funded Equality Commission to persecute a Christian owned bakery, to squander on useless North-South Bodies and fund an Irish language school with just 15 pupils.
“Even co-First Minister Robinson has stated that Stormont is “not fit for purpose” and yet he and his party were content to accept a sticking plaster approach to keep it all together until the next crisis rather than demanding the root and branch reform which devolution in Northern Ireland demands.
“If, like me, you are frustrated by all of that TUV gives you the chance to answer back on Thursday.
“Remember – every vote cast for the DUP and other executive parties will be interpreted as someone content with the status quo. Every vote cast for TUV sends a message that enough is enough and gives you the power to shake things up.”
