Statement by TUV leader Jim Allister:-
“I commend Shauna Moreland in his challenge to Martin McGuinness – she shows more courage and focus than some unionist politicians in taking on McGuinness. Obfuscation and the usual Sinn Fein speak does not answer the direct questions bravely posed by Shauna about the murder of her mother and the sanctioning thereof.
“Once again last night we were reminded of the central role of Marin McGuinness within the Republican terror machine as he was named as a key figure in the IRA’s so-called Northern Command.
“I can think of no other part of the Western World where such an allegation would be levelled against such a senior figure in government without an immediate reaction of outrage and demands for his resignation. Yet in Northern Ireland it passed almost unnoticed.
“The Spotlight investigation into MLA expenses rightly resulted in a police investigation. Last night’s programme and the mountain of other evidence in the public domain should trigger an investigation into the role of Marin McGuinness in directing terrorism.
“The family of Caroline Moreland rightly demand justice. Those responsible for robbing a young family of their mother in such a brutal fashion should be brought to justice.”
