TUV welcomes rejection of devolved vetoes on Brexit

Statement by TUV leader Jim Allister:-

“I greatly welcome the firm rejection by the Supreme Court of the nonsense idea that the devolved assemblies required to be consulted – even afforded a veto, some argued – before the United Kingdom could implement the sovereign decision of its people to leave the EU. In holding firm to the central sovereignty of the UK this is a good decision for the unity of the United Kingdom.

“It was a single national referendum on whether the UK, not its individual parts, should leave the EU. This never was a devolved issue and, therefore, votes in the devolved assemblies are of no relevance.

“I do wish to know, however, how much public money was wasted in legally aiding Raymond McCord’s futile ego trip.”
