TUV Questions Sale of Ballykelly Site

Statement by TUV Benbradagh Councillor Boyd Douglas:

“I am concerned that the sale of the Ballykelly site does not represent value for money for the taxpayer. I therefore welcome the fact that TUV has tabled a number of Assembly questions on the issue.

“Today Jim Allister tabled the following questions:

To ask the First Minister and deputy First Minister to detail the basis on which MJM Group was chosen as the successful bidder for the Shackleton site.

To ask the First Minister and deputy First Minister to detail the price obtained from MJM Group for the Shackleton site; and how much this represents per acre.

“It is imperative that the Department provides clarity in relation to these matters.

“There are some 600 acres to this site, around 350 are farmland. Considerable public money has been spent on the site erecting fencing and making it secure.

“The public need answers in relation to these matters so as to dispel concerns which are circulating in the local community and wider afield.”
