TUV Manifesto Launch – Time for Straight Talking, Principled Politics

Speaking after the launch of his party’s Assembly manifesto in the Ramada Hotel this morning TUV leader Jim Allister said:

“TUV offers the people of Northern Ireland the chance to vote for straight talking and principled politics. While others evade questions about whether they will go back into government with Sinn Fein/IRA after the election and the electorate question if the DUP will ever stop sustaining Martin McGuinness as joint First Minister people are in no doubt as to where TUV stands.

“With a Government panel confirming that the IRA murdered again, retains weapons and that its wicked Army Council oversees Sinn Fein there can be no question about the immorality of the Stormont arrangements.

“TUV stands for the democratisation of Stormont. We demand that the people of Northern Ireland have the same basic rights as those anywhere else in the free world – the right to vote a party out of government and the right to have an opposition.

“In this manifesto we spell out two ways to democratise Stormont which we invite the electorate to consider.

“In the Assembly we demonstrated an ability to deliver.

“TUV shone a light into Stormont’s dark corners exposing the waste and squander which others would have preferred to have remained hidden, such as the failure of the Assembly authorities to do anything about reclaiming the £700,000 claimed by Sinn Fein/IRA for research which they cannot produce.

“TUV has been the authentic voice of opposition but we have also delivered positive legislative change.

“We secured Ann’s Law. Never again will convinced terrorists be employed as Special Advisers in Stormont. We have also secured pension justice for RUC widows.

“Having delivered this with just one seat in the Assembly we are asking the people of Northern Ireland to consider what multiple TUV MLAs could achieve.

“Voting for the same old parties will only ensure more of the same. If people are happy with what they have got then they will return the same faces. If they want change, if they want straight talking and principled politics, then they will shake things up by voting TUV.”
