Statement by TUV leader Jim Allister:-
“The weekend republican Easter celebrations should be a wake up call to those unionists and their parties and leaders who blindly believe Sinn Fein in Stormont has any interest in making Northern Ireland work.
“The Sinn Fein leader, Michelle O’Neill could not have been clearer “We want to be in government in both parts of Ireland .. to finish the business of 1916.”
“Those who clung to the belief that McGuinness had changed from terrorist to peacemaker had their delusion shattered by the truth on his headstone. Pride of place goes to his IRA “service”, as he is proclaimed as an IRA volunteer!
“And, then, the parade of the notorious and bloodthirsty IRA ‘D’ Company in Belfast shattered what remained of the pretence that SinnFein had shed its IRA past.
“To be a devolutionist with Sinn Fein now, you’d need also to be a delusionist. Its time to face reality: this Stormont will never work, because it requires at its heart a party determined to destroy, not prosper, Northern Ireland. Let’s move on.”
