Statement by TUV Mourne councillor Henry Reilly:
“Northern Ireland sadly knows more about the misery inflicted by terrorism than most places in the world. However, even the darkest days of the Troubles saw nothing approaching the scale of loss in France as a result of Friday night’s attacks.
“It is the same evil of terror but the scale is much, much greater.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with those who have lost loved ones, those currently fighting for life and the medical professionals who must be under immense pressure.
“While details of who planned and carried out these barbaric acts of terror will take time to emerge it appears already that the lax attitude to borders across the EU could well have permitted people with evil intent to reach a major European capital.
“Without proper border controls attacks such as this are made easier and more possible. That is one of the reasons why TUV strongly advocates withdrawal from the EU.”
