Statement by TUV Belfast councillor Jolene Bunting:
“Last night Republican youths came into Lower Old Park and attacked passing cars in the Clifton Park Avenue area. The vehicles damaged in the attack included a police land rover.
“Homes in Manor Street were also attacked by the mob.
“I was in the area until 2:30 this morning and heard many residents of this small, close-knit community tell me that they were scared to sleep in their own homes due to the frequency of these attacks.
“The slow response of the PSNI last night is a cause of grave concern. It is essential that everything possible is done to apprehend those involved in this and similar attacks. People have had enough. I will be raising this matters with the police and hope to see a more effective response to disorder of this nature in the future.”
