Allister Questions Minister over HSCB Staff

Statement by Jim Allister MLA:

“I have been contacted by numerous Health and Social Care Board staff who are based in County Hall in Ballymena who concerned that they may be forced to move outside of Ballymena when the HSCB is dismantled.

“97 HSCB staff are based at County Hall, and it would be a backward step if these staff were forced to move outside of the town. The Minister needs to make clear what his plans are for the staff so they are aware of their options. While I understand that the staff will transfer either into the Department, Public Health Agency or local Health Trust, it is crucial they remain in Ballymena.

“To that end I have today written to the Minister and submitted written questions for answer.”

Note to Editors:

Questions tabled:

To ask DHSSPS what will be the impact on HSCB jobs presently located in County Hall, Ballymena be of the minister’s plans to dismantle the HSCB.

To ask DHSSPS what assurance exists for staff currently employed by HSCB in County Hall, Ballymena that they will continue to be posted in Ballymena consequent upon the dismantling of the HSCB.
